Component of the multienzyme 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase complex, that catalyzes the overall conversion of 2-oxoglutarate to succinyl-CoA and CO2. It contains multiple copies of 3 enzymatic componentes: E1: 2-oxoglutarate dehydrogenase; E2: dihydrolipoamide succinyltransferase; and E3: lipoamide dehydrogenase.
