Tryptophan and Lysine degradation to Acetyl-CoA


                 



Altough there are several pathways for lysine degradation, the one that proceeds via formation of the a-ketoglutarate-lysine adduct saccharopine predominates in mammalian liver. (Leucine and lysine are the only solely ketogenic amino acids of the common set of 20).
